Sophie Lewis
I’m 19 and from Hertfordshire, but currently based in Manchester cycling full time on the British Cycling programme. I started track cycling when I was 9 and subsequently started racing on the road when I was 12 and haven’t looked back since.
I have represented Great Britain in multiple international races on the road and track. A highlight for me has to be becoming European junior madison champion and world silver medalist back in 2019 as well as getting 4th in the team pursuit at my first elite European Championships in 2021.
Favourite race: A madison race on the track
Favourite food: A roast dinner and crumble (+ chocolate, but not together)
Favourite warm up tunes: This is what it feels like & Turn it up – Armin Van Buuren; Ready or not here I come (Radio Edit) – Gho$t; Drinking from the bottle – Calvin Harris; Stamp on the ground – Italo Brothers
What are you looking forward to most in 2022: I’m really looking forward to racing and gaining experience in UCI races with the team as well as hopefully competing at the Commonwealth Games for Team England. But most importantly having fun with the team!
