Beckie Storrie impressed on the first of the hillier stages of this year’s Women’s Tour, fighting hard to stay in contention whilst attacks rained down. Storrie finished in the main bunch and moves up almost 30 places in the GC competition.
Today was the first real test for the GC contenders in the race. With some tough rolling countryside to negotiate in between the two categorised climbs, there were plenty of opportunities for attacks. And they started early.
Storrie, Shrosbree, Stuart and Morrow were still in the main peloton coming over the top of Speech House climb when the attacks began in earnest and hardly let up all the way into the finish in Gloucester.
“Today was tough,” said Storrie. “The intensity is rising each day as the countryside becomes more challenging. I love climbing so I’m looking forward to the next few days as the climbs get bigger!”
Storrie was our top finisher in 43rd and moves up from 68th to 39th on GC at 43 seconds.
