CAMS-Basso put on a dominant display in the first round of the UK National Road Race series, taking a clean sweep at the Lincoln Grand Prix.
Becky Storrie was in fine form off the back of her top 10 result at the Ruta del Sol stage race in Spain earlier in the week. Storrie attacked at the end of the penultimate lap, eventually gliding over the finish line solo over 30 seconds ahead of the peloton behind.
“It felt amazing to win,” said Storrie. “The race stayed together a lot more than I expected so I had to make it count when I made my move. I was glad I pulled it off. We worked really hard as a team. The girls did a lot of work and I couldn’t have done it without them. I’m really pleased we could start the UK road season this way.”
As expected, the Michaelgate climb was the scene of plenty of attacks during the race, but the team stayed vigilant at the front of the peloton and didn’t let anything get away.
Danni Shrosbree was also in excellent form, showing her climbing prowess to take the win in the Queen of the Mountain competition.
With Storrie, Morrow and Shrosbree all finishing in the top 10, CAMS-Basso now has a commanding lead in the team classification in the National Road Series competition, and Storrie leads the individual standings.
